On 5th April, TÜSİAD's "Strategic Business Development" unit TÜSİAD International and DEİK (Foreign Economic Relations Board) co-hosted a meeting for the mutual exchange of views on trade and investment opportunities with a delagation from Shenyang in the People's Republic of China. The meeting's opening speeches were delivered by the Vice-President of TÜSİAD International, Mr. Aykut Eken TÜSİAD Member and the President of the DEİK Turkey - China Business Council Mr. Hüsnü Özyeğin, and the General Secretary of the Permanent Committee of the People's Congress of Shenyang Municipality, Ning Zhang, Presentations were given by TÜSİAD Chief Economist Mr. Hünkar Cem Doğan, the President of the Supervisory Board of TAYSAD (Association of Automotive Parts and Compenents Manufacturers) Mr. Süheyl Baybalı and the Senior Project Director Agency) Mr. İsmail Bitirim.
The meeting also considered the trade and investment environment in the region with a presentation by the Director of the Shengyang Municipality Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau Mr. Gu Shaoqing. In his speech, Mr. Aykut Eken stressed that China was one of the priority countries for TÜSİAD International and gave information about their activities to develop bilateral relations. Recalling that there was a trade imbalance against Turkey's favor in trade between China and Turkey, Mr. Eken expressed the desire that Chinese firms would make investments in Turkey in order to eliminate this problem, especially in the automotive, energy and IT technology fields.
