    Koç University – TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum (EAF) organized a seminar titled “Has China Run out of Cheap Labor?” on April 29th, 2013 at TUSIAD Headquarters in Istanbul. Prof. Xin Meng from the Australian National University made a presentation in the seminar.

    Prof. Meng currently works in the College of Business and Economics at the Australian National University. Her presentation was based on her researches on the Chinese economy during the transition period. Her research effort includes also the influence of institutions and culture on gender discrimination in developing and developed countries, the economic implications of rural-urban migration in developing countries and economic implications of major catastrophes, such as the impact of the Chinese famine and Cultural Revolution on life time earnings and welfare of individuals. She has published papers in journals such as Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Labour Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Labour Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and Oxford Economic Papers.
