TÜSİAD: “New Target for the Economy should be Transition to the Knowledge to the Knowledge-Based Economy"

TÜSİAD made a statement for the April 26th World Intellectual Property Rights Day. The statement is as follows:

“As a country among the prominent countries of the world following its economic performance of thee last ten years, Turkey has to move its economy one further level up through a transition to the knowledge-based economy. Turkey will be able to rank among the largest economy by the year of 2023, only if it can produce knowledge and transform it to technology and products. In this process, the intellectual and industrial property rights are the essential elements of promoting innovative thought and production of knowledge.

In spite of considerable progress in the sphere of the intellectual and industrial property rights, illegal activities of forgery, piracy and commercial counterfeiting are still a problem damaging economic development. Taking into account the tax losses, retracting investments and losses in exports and employment, the protection of trademark rights, and measures against damaging practices and regulation are clearly crucial.

In the global business environment where the development of the companies relies more and more on the knowledge capital instead of financial capital, we have to implement the highest standards of the intellectual property rights which is the greatest guaranty of commercialization of the knowledge. In this spirit, TÜSİAD celebrates the World Intellectual Property Rights Day which underline this actual truth.
