Mr. Muharrem Yılmaz, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD released the following press statement to commemorate the 20th death anniversary of the journalist, researcher and writer Uğur Mumcu:

“Mumcu is a memorable figure of the history of the Turkish journalism, one of the most distinguished intellectuals of Turkey, and indeed is the symbol of investigative journalism and freedom of press in Turkey. To honor the freedom of press and value journalists is an important criterion of conviction and commitment to democracy. We resent that a murder which deeply grieved our country, the assassination of Uğur Mumcu is still unsolved.

“We commemorate with respect Uğur Mumcu among all leaders of the struggle for democracy.”
