TÜSİAD Board of Directors made a statement on the New Incentive System. The statement included the following points:
“The New Incentive System introduces a strategic approach to remove the structural problems standing in the way of the sustainable growth of Turkish economy. As the Turkish economy has achieved a state of macro stability, the structural problems of the economy can now be seen more clearly. At this stage it is apparent that the macro reforms that generated an extended and successful growth period need to be supported with micro reforms.
We believe that the New Incentive System, covering efficiency increases in every sector, and particularly in the infrastructure, encouraging entrepreneurship, economies of scale, R&D, innovation and regional development is structured in a way to answer this need to a great extent.
We consider that four aspects of the New Incentive System are of particular relevance in removing the structural obstacles in the path of sustainable growth:
i. It provides an incentive to move from small to medium and from medium to large scale and hence encourages the economies of scale and clustering;
ii. It has a more flexible approach to regional development;
iii. It is based on a more objective and dynamically adjustable regional and provincial classification system.
iv. It encourages R&D, innovation, and technologic development and change
We are of the opinion the New Incentive System is carrying on the micro reform process revived last year, and it starts a renewed reform process. “
