TÜSİAD Board of Directors Held Talks in Brussels

TÜSİAD Board of Directors visited Brussels, capital city of European Union, on March 5-6 and held talks with representatives of European Union and business organizations. The main purpose of the visit was discussion and opinion exchange about Turkey’s accession process.

On March 5th, 2012, the delegation headed by Ms. Ümit Boyner, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD met with Mr. Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Energy of the EU Commission and with Mr. Karel de Gucht Commissioner for Trade of the EU Commission. The delegation visited also its Belgian counterpart FEB (Federation of Enterprises in Belgium) and Mr. Philippe de Buck, General Director of BUSINESSEUROPE, the representative organization of European business world, of which TÜSİAD is a member.

On March 5th, 2012, the second day of the Brussels talks, started with a meeting with Ambassador Selim Yenel, Permanent delegate of Turkey to the EU. Talks at the European Council continued with Mr. Frans van Daele, the Head of Cabinet of European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, Mr. Matthias Oel, special adviser on economic issues to European Council President and Ms. Anne Kemppainen, Cabinet Member in charge of enlargement. This was followed by a meeting Ms. Anna Maria Corrazza Bildt, Member of European Parliament and another meeting with Mr. Egemen Bağış, Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator. Brussels talks of TÜSİAD delegation concluded with a review meeting with Mr. Stefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement.

TÜSİAD delegation included President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD Ms. Ümit Boyner, Vice Presidents of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD Mr. Muharrem Yılmaz and Mr. Erman Ilıcak, Members of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD Ms. Cansen Başaran Symes, Mr. Tayfun Bayazıt and Mr. Volkan Vural, TÜSİAD Secretary General Mr. Zafer Ali Yavan and TÜSİAD International Coordinator Mr. Bahadır Kaleağası.
