TÜSİAD participated institutionally in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) organized on 21st -22nd June 2012 in St. Petersburg. During the Forum TÜSİAD organized a session on the Turkish economy and Turkish investments on June 21st, 2012. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mr. Taner Yıldız participated to the session and delivered a speech.

Mr. Erman Ilıcak, Vice President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD, Mr. Denis Bugrov, Senior Vice President of Sberbank, Mr. Stephen Peel, Managing Partner of TPG Capital, Mr. Dimitris Tsitsiragos Vice President of International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Mr. Cüneyd Zapsu, President of CüneydZapsu Counseling participated to the session moderated by Habertürk TV news anchor Ms. Suna S. Vidinli.

Mr. Erman Ilıcak, Vice President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD talked about the Forum and remarked that while important decisions on the region are made in the Forum, it is in its 16th year that Turkey participated for the first time. Mr. Ilıcak described the Forum as the “Davos of Russia”, and pointed out that TÜSİAD assisted to the participation of many Turkish businesspersons from various industries. Mr. Ilıcak indicated that among 6 thousand 5 hundred Forum participants, there are 40 Turkish businesspersons and he said: “For the first time in the Forum Turkey is a conversation topic of interest.

Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a high level summit meeting founded in1997 under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, which gather international political and business leaders, leading scientists, public figures and members of the media.
