The process experienced in the Turkish economy during the 2000’s has created a significant change both on a micro and macro scale and has been decisive on the income, consumption, workforce and welfare level of the household. This study, in addition to taking a closer scrutiny of the household that is one of the fundamental economic units, has also aimed to exhibit the course of and the degree to which the household has been affected from the said process of change. The household workforce, budget, poverty and life satisfaction survey results between 2002-2006 and the database open to the public of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have generally been benefitted from in the study. The role undertaken by the household in the workforce market, its acquired income, breakdown of the income among the households, the structure of the consumption expenditure, breakdown of the consumption expenditure according to households, the change in the consumption patterns, poverty and life satisfaction have been analysed. Besides, whether the data set obtained from the surveys reflect the actual circumstances of the household or not, the compatibility among the surveys, the alignment of the survey results with the other economic and social indicators; the international implementations in this field have also been evaluated.
