In the National Report presented to the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg in 2002; the main target of the environmental policy of the Republic of Turkey has been defined as the protection and development of the environment together with sustainable development. The fundamental principle of this policy is the obtaining of a sustainable development on the conditions of the management of natural resources, the protection of human health and the natural balance and leaving a habitable Turkey for future generations.
