The chief aim of the study titled; “Education and Sustainable Growth: The Turkish Experience, Risks and Opportunities” is to examine the relationship between education and economic growth (productivity growth) on which a large number of theoretical and applied studies have already been conducted, by making use of the new and comprehensive education variables and country group. Beyond this general aim; the study also has the objective of examining the growth structure of the Turkish economy in the framework of educational indicators and hence shedding light on the political practices of the period ahead of us. Secondly; the study examines the relationship between the productivity of the Turkish economy and education in the framework of an economic growth model and in comparison with an estimate of 50 countries of varying levels of development. Another significant dimension of the study is the forecastings regarding the contribution of the success to be acquired in the development of the human capital, by using the results obtained from the formed economic growth model, on the economic growth rate and the enhancement of welfare. In this framework, the economic performance that could be reached by the Turkish economy during the period of 2006-2020, according to different policy scenarios are examined and an emphasis is made on the critical role that coud be undertaken by human capital in terms of reaching a high economic growth rate.
