TÜSİAD made a statement regarding the terrorist attack in Diyarbakır. The statement contained the following opinions:
“As TÜSİAD, we strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Diyarbakır, we mourn for the members of the security forces who died in the attacks, we extend our feelings of sympathy and wishes of patience to their kin, and we wish a quick recovery for the wounded soldiers.
This attack aims at damaging the environment of dialogue we pine for, and the stability achieved. No development can legitimize terror, which is a crime against humanity, and making attempts on people’s life, and terror cannot be a part of any rightful fight.
In this period after general elections, with expectations for the formulation of a participatory constitution, the process of democratization should not be victimized to those living on violence. Such acts of violence should not discourage our people’s will for democracy and peace.
At this point, the main responsibility is undoubtedly incumbent on politics. As the business community, we expect all our political parties, whether or not represented in TBMM, act responsibly to defeat this ambush against Turkey and strongly condemn this attack with a common discourse and will, and develop a new environment of dialogue to serve the process of democratization.”
