Climate Platform established on TÜSİAD's and REC Turkey's instigation, considers the issue of low carbon growth financing

 

The “Climate Platform” established on the instigation of TÜSİAD and the Regional Environment Center (REC Turkey) arranged a conference entitled "Financing Transition on Low Carbon Economy”, at the Istanbul Hyatt Regency Hotel. The opening speeches at the conference, which discussed possible financing options for Turkey, were delivered by TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner and REC Turkey & Black Sea Regional Director Dr. Sibel Sezer Eralp. 
 
In her address, Ümit Boyner stated that as TÜSİAD they were pursuing intensive efforts on the issue of climate change and running activities directed at both private and public sectors. Boyner explained that they were contributing to the preparation of Turkey’s new economic model being formed for the new global climate change regime to be instituted after 2012 in line with the Climate Platform’s activities to this end. Ümit Boyner stressed the need for the sound management of the challenging relationship between Turkey’s requirement for high sustainable growth and the transition to a low carbon economy, as the country pursues its objective of reaching the EU developmental level average.
 
Earth Capital Partners Founding Partner / UNEP Finance Initiative President / ABN AMRO Global Project Finance Division Former President Richard Burrett, E3G CEO Nick Mabey and Climate Bonds Initiative CEO Sean Kidney participated as guest speakers.
